NA WINS TONI ROSS SPIRIT FOUNDATION TOURNAMENT; BALOURIS WINS MVP

After winning 47-37 on Friday night, the Tigers battled the host team, Howland (OH) in the Toni Ross Spirit Foundation Tournament championship game. The Tigers jumped out to a double digit halftime lead before coming away with a 56-30 victory.


NA jumped out to a 12-8 lead after the first quarter behind two three-pointers from Vange Balouris. Balouris would hit two more threes in the second quarter and North Allegheny would expand their lead going into the half at 26-13. The Tigers exploded for 20 points in the third quarter where they really created separation before holding Howland (OH) to two points in the fourth quarter to finish off a 56-30 victory.

 

Balouris finished with 24 points. She was named the Toni Ross Spirit Foundation Tournament Most Valuable Player with 36 total points on the weekend. Rae Shanahan added 10 points.

 

North Allegheny improves to 2-4 overall. The Tigers return to action on Monday when they take the short trip to Pine-Richland to take on the Rams. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
