North Allegheny hosted the West Allegheny Indians at UPMC Court on Monday afternoon. The Tigers jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and rolled to a 65-47 non-section win.
After allowing the opening points of the game, the Tigers exploded for 22 first quarter points and led 22-14. Vange Balouris paced NA with nine first-quarter points (all three buckets being three-pointers.) The offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter as the Tigers outscored the Indians 15-8 and had a 37-22 lead at the half.
NA scored the first eight points of the third quarter to expand the lead to 43-27. Up 17 points with time ticking down in the third, Balouris hit a tough three-pointer to make the score 56-36 going into the fourth quarter. Leading by 20 points, the Tigers played the possession game in the fourth quarter and coasted to a 65-47 victory.
Balouris finished the game with 33 points. For her efforts, Balouris was named the Wright Automotive Player of the Game. Rosalia Varlotta had 16 points.
North Allegheny improves to 3-5 overall. West Allegheny falls to 5-2. It’s a quick turnaround for the Tigers as they will be right back in action tomorrow when they host Lincoln Park at 4 p.m. at UPMC Court. That game will be broadcast live on the North Allegheny Sports Network.
